Variety of Hops for Brewing

Hi,

I am going togrow my own hops and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good variety of hops for brewing. I am new to brewing and am no where near being able to brew using materials from scratch but I do hope to learn and I figured I should get the ball rolling on the raw materials so when they are ready I hopefully will be ready too.... Anyway any suggestions on good varieties that crop well in Ireland would be greatly appreciated.

It really depends on what you plan on brewing as certain hops lend themselves better to certain beer styles.

Thanks for the replies. I have a friend in the UK and he is going to get the hop rhizomes off this crowd here.
