Search with "+"

Spotted what I can only assume is a bug in the new Search.

I searched within a forum for "[EXPIRED] + meal + dublin". It brought me to the search page with a list of results, with a link to the four pages below. Looked okay. The search box had put in extra spaces between the words while the URL was

http://www.boards.ie/search/?subforums=1&f=1372&q=%5BEXPIRED%5D+%2B+meal+%2B+dublin

When I clicked on the second page, it threw up an error

No results found for [EXPIRED]+++meal+++dublin

http://www.boards.ie/search/?q=%255BEXPIRED%255D%2B%2B%2Bmeal%2B%2B%2Bdublin&f=1372&subforums=1&page=2

I assume that shouldn't happen?

First off [Expired] is a prefix. Prefixes are not searchable because they are not part of thread/post data so you'll only get hits from threads/posts that actually have the word [Expired] in the post or thread title content.

Secondly, + is a reserved term and is stripped from search queries so that's not going to get you what you want.

Finally, yes it's a bug that when you try hop on to the second page it'll tell you there are no results

Ah my bad. I was using "+" as you might on Google, didn't know it would be stripped

+ is boolean search logic, and it's not catered for very well in our search at the minute
