Ok, So we're on a pretty tight budget for our wedding and was wondering if anyone has ever put together their own flowers... Our hotel are doing the flowers as a centrepiece as part of our deal but We were thinking of going out to Smithfield and getting a good few flowers for making the bouquets, buttonholes, etc ourselves. If anyone has done this as a DIY job themselves I'd love to know any tips they might want to share. Also how much did the whole thing eventually cost?

    Thanks

have a look around at your local schools/colleges/community centre, and see if anyone is doing a 10 week flower arrange class, there is loads in dublin

One wedding I was working at the Bride got her bouquets made in Smithfield the day before and they were great value.

Most hotels do table arrangements and table centre piece as part of the package. You should ask who they use. Get price from that florist as well.

My partner is a Florist, I had to go to Smithfield once as she needed chrysants for a last minute funeral order. I can tell you the wholesale prices were of the wall compared to her usual suppliers. I would recommend you ring a few local florists, get prices for quantity. They will probably beat Smithfield and save you the time running around.

All florist would love orders where people know exactly what they want, no consultation, means saved time, saved money.
