Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi Problem

    Hi guys,

I hope this in the in right place. I couldn't decide between here and Gadgets.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi only there before Christmas. All going well until I needed to reboot the router (BT voyager router) in my apt there last week.

Since then I have been not able to connect to this router. All other wireless devices are connecting no problem. This seems to be a known issue with Galaxy tabs and phones. Basically, from my limited knowledge, the tab seems to be looking for the original dynamic ip that the router assigned it but this is not available since the reboot. I have even done a hard reset of the tab but the problem still persists. The below link explains more and i have quoted what I think is the most important part.
The Tab is currently running a Samsung modified version of the 2.2 operating system. The problem is on Samsung (I think). When you connect to a network, your device requests an IP address from the router, if the router is set up as a dynamic DHCP and not Static. Being dynamic means that the router grabs the next available IP address. This is where the problem begins. On the Galaxy Tab, it saves the network and the assigned IP address to a file located in the root directory–a location for system files that the user doesn’t have access to unless “Rooted”. The next time that your device tries to connect to that network, it uses the last known IP address assigned. If that IP address is not available, the Tab goes into a loop of continuously trying to connect using that IP. So, even on a dynamic DHCP router setup, the device switches to a static IP address.

I haven't tried the solution given in the link above as I'm not quite sure about it. Other links suggest the solution seems to be to assign it a static ip - http://www.mygalaxytab.net/samsung-galaxy-tab-how-to/tab-cannot-get-ip-address-for-wifi-problem-recs/.

This is where I need your help guys. I tried some of the solutions with no luck. Basically I don't understand how to set this up from the router side of things. Also, does anyone know of another solution or if I should root my tab as suggested in the Steve Shaffer link above? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
