Sorry for hijacking

Before I start with my query I would like to apologise for hijacking your forum. I am not sure if this is the correct place for this query but here goes.
I am fairly sure that I will be made redundant from Ulster Bank in the near future (due to branch closures, I know they say this will not happen but my area manager says they are on the way, and soon with my branch more than likely affected). I have spent the majority of my banking career doing in branch auditing and am a QFA. Now I realise that QFA's are very common in the jobs market, but with my history of auditing in the bank would I be any way employable in an accountants practice to do even reception work with maybe some V.A.T returns and hopefully work up to doing the tax exams at night sometime?
Its probably a long shot but I am just looking for some silver linings here. Thanks for reading,
    JH

let me tell you that you have skills you don't even know about, managing time and limited resources, accurate measuring and report writing, self discipline, resourcefulness etc etc, I know this as I'm ex UB myself, it is amazing what sinks in over the years..;-)

You are very employable, trustworthy and honest staff are still desirable things to possess in any work environment you choose so chin up !

I'd say general bank staff may be in trouble, but i'd say qfa's are in demand.

Also, consider the redundancy - can you think of any self employed venture?

Are you in Dublin? If so then you probably have a better chance of a new job. Not much around the country for QFA's unless you want to sell insurance, plenty of those jobs!

I am surprised how much less the package being offered this time is, it's a sign of the times I suppose but it is going to be hard to see how they will get volunteers for a bad package in a bad jobs market. Hope it doesn't come to the compulsory stage but I think that is actually what they want, that way they can target those on the oldest pay scales.
