UPC HD+ Needs Regular Reboot / Remote Record Problems

    Hi all,

    I have two issues......

    1. I regularly (like every day) find that when I go to the DVR menu, select a previously recorded programme and try to play it that all I get is a blank screen and silence. The only means I can find to get over the issue is to shut off the power and restart. Very annoying, particularly if presently recording something else and you want to watch the previous recording as you can't reboot it until after the current recording has finished as otherwise one will loose that recording.

    2. Despite my best efforts I cannot get the remote record to work. I'm using an apple phone and have no difficulty (most of the time) logging on and checking the programme listings but whenever I try to record something I get a message that my box cannot be contacted and the recording cannot be scheduled. Needless to say the people on the "help" line have been of no use to me on this issue!

    Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in anticipation.

    first of all get back on to upc and demand to change the box and go from there.

    Thanks, have contemplated that but you know I'm going to have to spend an hour or two with them on the phone first and than probably have to take a half day to sit at home waiting for a technician to call between 09:00 and 13:00 etc!

    You reckon it's a faulty box then?

    I get the blank screen and silence when playing a recorded programme sometimes and like you have to power the box off to get it to work again. My remote record works fine though .... thinking I need a new box as this only started recently

    My non-HD box has also recently started doing the 'blank screen' thing when playing back some recordings.

    I have exact same issue - was going to start a thread when I found this one. When I try to view a pre-recorded programme screen goes blank and display at front of box stays listing whatever channel was active before I switched to PVR. I have to hit "back" button to get back to live TV. And then I have to unplug to reset and watch recorded programmes - will be fine for a while but if i go back to watch other recored stuff hours later I'll have to go through the same procedure. Same as "WatchinTV" I loath to contact UPC support as I reckon they'll have to switch box and I don't want to lose the 90% full disk of stuff I've previously recorded. I'd estimate this issue only began with me within past two months. Is thta same for others?

    If anyone does have same issue and does contact UPC can they report back on what solution they offered - thanks.

    I have a similar power-off-on problem with my HD box. Sometimes the remote won't work and the only solution is to power cycle the box. it will work for a time then following a power cycle. The normal DVR box is fine though with the remote.

    I think this is a problem with the second tuner in you UPC receiver. Contact UPC and have them check the box out.

    The box hanging issue and the Record issue are most likley linked. Get UPS to replace the box, Its a known issue, and the Remote record issue should resolve itself.

    Like some other posters my nonHD box had that blank screen a few times but just tonight the box turned itself off and on again, to the installation screen and asked for an activation code. I'd never seen this before but found the activation code on the UPC site. I should've guessed this might happen but now all my recordings have disappeared. There's not much really important, just some stuff the kids loved to watch regularly. Is there any way of getting these recordings back?

    God I HATE UPC!

    I have the same power-off-on problem with my HD box. Blank screen with overlay menu working only, only solution is to power cycle the box.:(
