I recently lost my only key for a 00 nissan almeara. I contacted my local nissan dealer and the informed me that it would cost me €250 for the key, plus i have to get the car brought into the garage which im guessing will cost at least another €100. I dont have lost key or break down assistance on my insurance.

Could anyone advise me if this is my only option or is there another cheaper alternative?

    P.s
I need my car to be up and running by the weekend.

    Cheers

My local dealer did a key on my O/H's Micra (had factory immobiliser) for €70 all in. she lost all keys.

Car was a 97 Micra. Maybe 00 Almera is more complex

Dealer was Dulick Motors in Ennis.

I'd try indy places, lock doctor or whatever theyre called. your house insurance may cover keys lost.

I take it your in Kilkenny by your user name?
I wouldn't be totally clued in on this,
What I'd recommend is a place on the naas road beside the red cow, they specialise in car keys, give them a call and see if they can do anything for you.

I got a spare key cut for my toyota picnic for 70 euro in a key kiosk that also do shoe repair. Local toyota main dealer wanted 4 times that much.

Was this when you had no other keys available and did the car have an immobiliser? (i.e was it a European Picnic, or a Jap model Ipsum)

Ok cheers for that, ill give them a call tomorrow. They seem to be able to reprograme the immobiliser. So itl be interesting to see can the do it cheaper than the dealer. Ill keep you posted.
