    Hello,

Just a quick question on what Marketing is like in WIT and how you found it/are finding it?

I completed 1st Year of Multimedia in the 2010/2011 year but didn't continue with it. Working for the year now, but planning on going back to College in September (ambitions etc. . .)

Anyway, I did my CAO last night with Marketing as my first choice with Business as second choice but that really should be null because of the low points of Marketing, and I'm 99.9% sure I'll get it.

So anyway, anyone that did/do the course have any pros/cons of it?

    Timetable alright? Subjects ok?

    Thanks in advance

What do you want to know, I'm in 4th year at the moment. The course is being given a bit of an overhaul shortly to integrate some more of the emerging technologies (and getting a change in name). Well needed imo and will definitely make it more beneficial for those doing it.

From what I remember hearing, the people doing it at the moment have around 17/18 hours a week I think, but I could be totally wrong.

What were class sizes like Admmm?

Well with the BBS (hons) you can do 2 years general business and branch off into Marketing in 3rd and 4th year!

17/18 hours is about right, although I remember when I started we had more but that was before all the cutbacks :).

Marketing students are combined with Retail Management students for common modules (6/12 in first year, 4/12 in second year and 2/12 in third year). Your biggest classes will be in those 6 classes in first year. In 4th year you'll start to see your class being shared with BBS students that are specialising in the marketing stream and also other 4th year courses that have specific marketing modules.

The course is changing to integrate more Digital elements, I'm not sure when those changes are coming in but as it's the future of marketing, I'd highly recommend that you do your own reading in the area outside of college. Even if you teach yourself the basics of online marketing (web design, social media, photoshop) then you'll be setting yourself up for a very high mark when it matters in your final semesters.

Is there any huge advantage to doing the 4 years of marketing ? Id prefer do the BBS or HCBS for 2 years and then branch into a Marketing stream.

If its of any use to ya David you can log into my moodle and have a look at our Marketing notes just give you a small idea about what you may be doing.
