Medical Science private lab work question?

Can someone tell me please - to work in a private hospital laboratory in Ireland, do you need to have AMLS eligibility / registration? I have a Biomedical science degree from Manchester, and have worked as a lab aide in Ireland and am currently working in a private hospital lab as a medical scientist. They have not asked me anything about AMLS certification so I have not brought it up. I have the required years experience that the Academy require but they say that I need more and in a big lab with Immunos. I find this really pissy of them. I cannot work in a big lab without getting their eligibility, yet in order to get Academy eligibility I have to get 6 months work in one. Thats the only way I'm going to pass their interview process. Catch 22. When I was interviewed, they asked if I was working as a medical scientist in the private hospital and I said yes. To which they said that they had asked the private industry not to take on scientists without AMLS registration. This leads me to believe that its not strictly required!!??Thanks
