Print Nightmare?

    OK,

Long story short. Ordered some prints for the local soccer club.

The photos of the 'A' team arrived and were totally fine.

The photos of the 'B' team arrived and were a disaster.

Both photos were sent to the printer using almost the exact same size/settings. The only difference was that the 'A' went out at 360 dpi and the 'B' team went out at 300 dpi. Both were sized to fit the A4 print i.e. 297mm x 210mm.

I printed the exact same JPGs that I sent the printer at home and they came out fine.

I scanned both photos (using exact same settings), took a 100% crop and have posted sample below to show the difference.

I am sure that the printer is going to rectify the issue at their expense, but I am really curious to know where it all went wrong.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

PS. The printer has just confirmed that they are re-printing and expediting the shipping. So fair play on that front.

Still a bit worried though that they'll re-print and send them and they'll be just as bad i.e. they just run through a machine with no human QA.

Looks like they went to town on the sharpy sharpy slider. I ran through a bunch of online printers a few years back, ended up picking photobox to do all my printing with, but one or two of the others returned results that looked like that second one.

Ya, seems like that alright. They were also significantly darker than the original photo and the home print I made myself. Strange that the A team photos came out just fine though.

I went with an online printer that is usually reliable. Have to say though - Very nice on the customer service front, and pretty quick to get the re-prints sorted.

Wouldn't be much of an issue other than the fact that I missed the first deadline for delivery and was hoping to get these to the relevant people this Friday.
