HP Pavillion DV 9000 - To sell for parts/spares or upgrade/repair?

    Hi,

I have a HP Pavillion DV 9000 but although when I switch it on, I can see the usual power buttons light up, it doesn't display anything on screen. So I brought it to a PC repairs shop and after they looked at it, they told me the chipset was burnt out due to the fan overheating.

My question is now, is there any point in me buying and replacing it with a new chipset or should I sell it as is for parts/spares?

Recent sales of the same make and model laptop sold for as low as 76 euro as parts/spares and 230 euro as a normal running laptop.

    Thanks.
