    Hi all,

    My car is about to give up on me and i'm looking at purchasing a small transit van (the chance to buy a suitable one has come up) to replace it.

    Few questions;
    I'd be using it for private use but i think it was commercial use before me so am i able to keep my private insurance?

    What does commercial vehicle actually mean?

    How do i find out what tax bracket it would be under, as i say it would have been commercial so if i can switch to private i would be looking for the private use tax rates?

    As far as im aware the private tax on a goods vehicle goes on the old system rather than the Co2 system.so it would be insured as a 2.0ltr €660 for something 1998cc As for insurance you can of course insure it privatley. (as in not for commercial purposes). Costs for me on a Partner was no different than on the 1.8l car i was drivin a while back.
