Saw possible one of the worst things on the streets of Dublin last night.

A homeless guy with one arm getting robbed by two other homeless guys,
From their accents they sounded like travellers.

    I heard them saying

"so, you only have coppers?" As they were grabbing his cup off him.

Ireland really has produced some of the most disgusting people on the planet.

We have produced our fair share of sick b@stards though for a country with such a small population.

I feel for you OP, starting a threat to get replies and then getting these "posts." A bit like the "humans" you saw robbing the homeless guy, whom I feel should be thrown to the gallows. But we can't do this because we're a "humane" country. Except these maggots aren't humane and neither are the politicians banking out the rich.

You would have gotten a better response in Humanities.

Actually the response he is getting is because of his, clearly racist ( and illogical), conclusion that Ireland has some of the worst people on the planet, because of the actions of one, or two random homeless guys.

Without that remarkable feat of logic, something which wouldnt have been accepted for other groups, or been banned for others in some case ( i.e. a similar thread about Romany), the thread would be "on topic".

OP...Did you (1.) intervene? Did you (2.) call the Garda? Did you (3.) scream fire and make a scene to draw a crowds attention to it? No? Did you keep on walking?

It'd be a better country if you could answer yes to any of the first 3 above.

What are you ****ting on about?

The OP witnessed a crime and as far as the information shows, did nothing to intervene, help the person or even report it.

Some would say it is that kind of attitude that needs to be adjusted.

Oh yes, option 1 is a good idea ain't it? Walk up to 2 travellers and tell them to give the homeless man his money back. Sound advice there.

Option 2? call the Garda? Why, so they can call round around 30 minutes later? (**remembers budget cuts**)...I mean 40 minutes later?

Option 3 is similar to option 1, this would be a stupid option. Plus what would drawing a crowd do? In the end action would be needed.

Not to pedantic OP but the guys could be the 'victims' dealers as when I lived in inner city dublin I saw dealers go round to homeless people and collect money of the guys at the begging spots (and the dealers didn't look like Miami vice style characters either)

TBH, any of these would be a damned sight better than being an all knowing coward living their life in a little meek bubble while judging eveyone and thing they can not because it's worth judging - but because it raises their feeling of self worth. This at the same time as being chronically apathetic towards anyone but themselves. But that's just my generalisation about what I see as certain people. Ironic ain't it? Sure lets break it down....

I listed 3 options. If you feel number 1 is too dangerous for you, move onto what most rational people would find the simplest...Option 2.

Btw, you'd be surprised how often standing up to people doesn't end in being shanked in the japs eye by a 'knacker'.
    HovaBaby wrote: »

The incident most likely happened in town. Garda everywhere. I've called the Garda a few times myself in town and never had to wait more that 3-5 mins (Once, less than 30 seconds) if explaining immediately that a crime is in progress. How many times have you? Have you anything to base this 30 minutes business on?

Strangely, and bare with me here. Most thieves don't like attention being drawn to them. Moreso, they don't like the threat of a crowd. They'll stick their chest out and bolster for a minute but will generally **** off.

As some one who got a (thankfully minor) stab wound as thanks for intervening in a dispute in the city center (College Green to be exact) you can say what you want but its pretty crappy advice to downplay the risks because it does happen.
Agree with you about ringing the Guards though.
