Turbo Trainer Flat Tyre

    Hi,

I recently bought a Tacx Flow trainer, but everytime I start I pump up the tyre to c8bar, but by the end it is completely flat and obviously the readings are then wrong.

Any ideas why the tyre is going flat?

    Thanks
    Mark

I think it's the heat that's generated on the roller. Regular road tyres can't handle it. You should get a tyre designed for a turbo trainer. Look for a trainer tyre designed to be used with turbo trainers. Tacx have one and so do Continental. They also give much better grip on the roller so you get less slippage.

Small particles maybe of glass already in the tyre, when used in the Tacx can cause a very slow puncture as they eventually work through the surface.
I solved this for myself by using an ordinary new tyre and tube. I have had it now for more than 7,000 km without a problem. I have never noticed the tyre get hot. I get plenty hot though.
