Hi, I'm applying for a job and the cover letter has to be handwritten. What I'm unsure of is what type of paper to use - A4 printer paper or decent quality writing paper? Any advice?

    Thank's,
    Carolinej

It wouldn't do you any harm to use good quality paper, so long as you can write in a straight line! :)

Probably a quality writing paper? I imagine the job involves a lot of handwriting so they probably want to see how legible your writing is. In that case a paper that doesn't smudge the ink of your pen while the letter is in transit would be perfect.

You might also consider writing the cover letter with a fountain or ink nib pen as opposed to just a ballpoint. That kind of difference could make a lasting impression and make you stand out from the crowd, just remember to give the letter a little time to completely dry once you've finished before folding for posting;)

    Good luck
