Sky calls

I left Sky a couple of years ago because I could not justify the cost. I had HD and multiroom and the full package was costing me over €100 a month.

I moved to a combination of Freesat and Saorview and I am very happy with the reception and programmes and the zero running costs.

I keep getting mail and phone calls from Sky to get back on board their gravy train. Last week a guy rang and he was under the impression that I had recently left Sky. I told him that I had gone a least two years and he said that this was news to him. I added that I was happy with my setup and would not rejoin Sky because of the high cost.

How to I get them to cease hassling me?

Read this page on the Data Protection Commissioner's website and in particular, these parts of it:

    Postal marketing

If you do not want to receive direct marketing, you have a right to notify the sender that you object to receiving such material. It is against the law (Section 2 of the Data Protection Acts) for an organisation not to respect a written request from you. If you continue to receive marketing after you have objected you can make a complaint to the Data Protection Commissioner.

    Electronic Marketing

The Electronic Privacy Regulations (SI 336 of 2011) give you the right to prevent organisations from using electronic means (phone, SMS,email, fax) to contact you in order to sell you a product or service.

I have found that use of disgusting expletives gets me blacklisted so they don't call again. :)
