Sony, Hisense or Hannspree?

Hi, looking to buy a new digital telly, can get a 32 inch Sony full HD for €440, or a 40 inch Hinsense full HD for €399. Any advice on which would be the best buy?

Also saw a deal for a 42 inch Hannspree, plus blu ray player, plus stand for €599. More than I want to spend, really.

Anybody with any experience of these brands? Sony is the only one I know of.

Sony, LG, Samsung etc are better makes than Hisense (budget) or Hannspree (Budget monitors).

A 42" LG is about €499 and separate BD player €99 so the "deal" for the Hannspree + player isn't very exciting.

I got a Hanspree before Xmas and have no negatives to report. It works as expected without issues.

I'd highly recommend Sony, I have currently have two Sony TVs, I really like them and have had no issues with them at all.

I'd strongly recommend sony. I install all sorts of makes of tv and people are most satisfied with sony, imo, they are most user friendly. They are fast to turn on and change station, and the internet features such as the track id are useful at times. The Sony Bravia is worth the extra few bob.

I see that Hannspree TVs are now Saorview approved - http://www.saorview.ie/news/hannspree-tvs-now-saorview-approved/

Personally I'm a fan of Sony TVs, I have two non approved models - one 4 years old the other 2 yrs old. Both have small niggles but generally work well with Saorview, there shouldn't be any problem with the approved models.

Sony would also be my choice out of those 3. Although over the last couple of Years Samsung has been a great seller. The 32'' Toshiba 32AV833 LCD-TV - 32AV833B is great value at the moment for €299. Or a Walker 40" TV, LCD, WP4061R at €419. I dont know anything about Hinsense but i do know that some of the Hannspree sets Did/do have issues with subtitles on Saorview.

If you are getting a Sony, make sure it correctly displays the EPG data, i.e. gives programme info beyond Now and Next, as it is an issue with some Sony models despite them being certified as Saorview approved.

This is one of the niggles with my 2 non-approved models.

I assume this will be sorted now that they have Saorview approved models. I wonder how many non approved Hannspree's are still on the shelves, it would a good idea to check the approved list before purchasing.

It makes a joke out of Saorview certification if so called approved models dont even offer the basics.
Ive gotten better results from cheap non approved tuners despite the naysaors.

Well, as I mentioned in the Now/Next thread, my approved model works fine as if this evening but yes, it was a bad miss. Sony reckon the certifying firm completely missed it. Joke shop.
