Does anyone know what exactly is located within an ESB substation?

Is it a high voltage incoming cable and transformer? Switchgear etc?

    Thanks

    Hi Stollaire,

Unforuntately we wouldn't have that kind of information. I would recommend you email ESB Networks, and/or ask this question in the Electrical forum.

    Hope this helps,

    Regards,

    David.

It would depend what type and size sub/station you are talking about. Basic principle would be as you already said

Assuming you're talking about 10KV/400V subs...

Usually 3 10/20 KV cables in one side, into a 10KV/400V traffo with earthed star point, fuses, then you can usually get about 3 LV cables onto each of the bus bars on the LV side. Oh and usually a couple of rats :P
