im trying to get to liverpool from dublin. im trying to do it for a liverpool match so obviously prices are gonna be high those weekends. im trying to see what options i have in terms of transport.

    - p+o ferry dublin/liverpool
    - aerlingus or ryanair dublin/liverpool
    - drive to belfast then easyjet belfast/liverpool
    - stenaline (sail+rail or drive) dublin/liverpool
    - eurolines (bus eireann) dublin/liverpool

any other options im missing here?

    Irish Ferries Rail & Sail

Dublin - Holyhead the train to Liverpool

Reverse process to get ya back, costs around the 75euro return mark which i don;t think can be beaten.

What time is kick off though? That normally scuppers a few, if it's a 3pm jobby then yer grand, get into Holyhead at 11:00, train should arrive in Liverpool about 2ish, then 2.30am return ferry from Holyhead

Those deals are generally a rip off. You could do a ferry day trip with Irish kop they may even help you source tickets. Or fly in to a nearby city, Birmingham, Manchester etc. whichever is cheapest for that weekend. Imo the extra cost over ferry is worth it for all the time you save.

Best bet is to sign up to Irish kop and have a look at some of the different travel ideas there.

I've travelled to a Liverpool game via Manchester many times and find it to be by far the cheapest and easiest option. PM me and I can give you further details. Will be making the same trip again in the coming weeks!

As some of the lads have pointed out flying into Birmingham,Manchester or even Leeds.Birmingham is very handy and there are always cheap flights going, then you can train it up the train station is in the airport.

As the lads have said also keep an eye on Irishkop.

Aer Lingus don't fly to Liverpool.

The ferry companies do a football special with a car.

Depending on the day of the week, you can take a car and 4 adults for 200 euro on a day trip. I have done it a couple of times as the designated driver.
