    Hi guys,
Im thinking of buying an amiko 8900 alien linux box.

Before i do i wonder will a cyfra+ card work in it? I see the box has a card reader slot but the polsat card seems to come with a 'cam' that i must put the card into before putting it in the box....

The thing is that the box doesnt appear to have a slot big enough for a cam, just a card reader......Will i be able to put the card in without the cam thingy? Is it just simply a case of software being installed to the same job as the cam?

I am fairly new to this so any help would be appreciated , thanks very much guys!

    You asked the same elsewhere.

    My answer

Have you a Cyfrowy Polsat cam and card, or a Cyfra+ card?

If the card you have requires a cam, and the amiko doesn't have a cam slot I think you may be outta luck.
    Which card do you have?
    The Cyfrowy Polsat with cam?
    Or the Cyfra?
The cyfra card will run in an emu(I have this sub)
The Cyfrowy card I don't know.....
Only advice I can think of is to check if this card will run in emu.
CCcam Oscam MGcam or newcam and indeed if the box's software can run these emu's.
Specwise the Amiko looks a good box but as it seems so new and has 0 support on any of the main forums I'd avoid it for a while, until I see an image for it vti or pli at least it wouldn't be for me.

I have a golden media 990 which is the very same as the amiko 8900.
I tested reading a expired Cyfra card last night and it was reading card ok.
I was using the enigma 2 software running OScam.
Tonight i will try reading the card using Spark and Oscam.

Great receiver with 7 day guide working and time shift working with 20gd hard drive connected.

If it's a Polsat cam and card (black and yellow), you'll have to use a receiver with a cam slot. AFAIK, the card is paired with the cam, and can't be used with soft cams.

i got an email from Lukasz at satsklep.pl and he said it would work but complicated(so i assume he means it will need a softcam or the likes)......

Any other good alternatives to the amiko 8900?? I hear good things about the opticum xts703 box but thats mostly from people using it for getting sharred services....Ive read reviews on it through google translate and it seems okay
