    whats reckoned to be the best rim tape, i keep getting punctures with this blue shimano plastic stuff.

    do they fit well? I saw there was a couple of versions. seems like a good idea if you have a low spoke front wheel, 20/24 veloplugs vrs full roll of rim tape.

    actually my rs10's came with that blue plastic stuff never had a prob with it.

    the mavics dont need any

    other than that - velox

    I've tried several sorts of tape-on-a-roll. None of them is inelastic enough to avoid blowing through the spoke holes, unless it applied in enough layers that normal rim tape would be lighter.

    Using tape on top of rim tape seems a bit pointless. Just buy rim tape that fits.

    Exactly, the lower the spoke count the better the weight savings, but they also work fine, really well made product. You just have to measure the hole before ordering the plug (that really doesn't sound good for Monday morning..)

    I use this too. I got slagged from a "pro" though for using it so I'm glad I'm not the only one.
