Ad Blocker for Macbook Pro

Hey guys, just treated myself to a new MacBook and am slowly getting used to the new controls as I've previously only ever owned PC laptops. Just one thing is really bugging me however. I had the Adblocker programme downloaded on my last laptop and it is such a godsend. However, I downloaded the Safari Adblocker and it does absolutely nothing. Useless.

I know its just a small thing but it's irritating the b'jaysus out of me. Any advice is much appreciated!

Firefox and Adblock plus will also do it, Firefox's adblock plus works better than Chromes, well it did anyways, don't think thats changed yet though

Well I used Chrome on my last laptop and I had no issues with adblock on that but I thought I'd give safari a lash while I have the Mac.

Safari is fairly crap, similar to Internet Explorer on Windows (I dare say IE is a better browser but anyways), either Chrome or Firefox is what you want for a decent ad block extension, Firefox (imo) has a much more robust addon engine and I've found from expierience firefox addons being vastly superior to Chromes ones,
