    HI
we are using Nutriprem 2, making up the bottles with the formula powder, using hot boiling water, problem we have encounter is that some of the powder is reminding un dissolved within bottle, we shake each bottle for 10mins and we shake it again before use, but it makes no differences the teat hole is getting trapped with powder bits, Cant use a bigger hole teat or fast flow teat as our babies are premature tots, and the sucking and swallowing is still been developed.
Any one have this problem ? or any advice from anyone how to over come it as both tots are now vomiting a good bit after each feed...
    thanks

Is the water hot enough when you are making them?
Do you just shake the bottle or do you roll it between your hands too?

Might be asilly question but do you add powder to water or water to powder. I find if you add water to powder never dissolves properly

We just finished up with the Nutriprem 2 with our twins and had the exact same issue. Speaking to other people it is very common for it to not mix right.

What we found which was recommended by others was to boil the water as normal and then cool it down to room temp (we pre-made all bottles so they were water bottles in the fridge) and then add the power and shake. Then heat the bottles.

It mixes a lot better and there were no lumps left in the bottles and the milk flowed a lot better. Hope it helps!

I understand the reason for adding the powder to freshly boiled water and we did this with our first and have gone back to this way since we got the twins off nutriprem.

The only reason we used or even tried the cooled boiled water was because of of the twins developed b-strep the day he was due to come home and so was in for another few weeks so we got the benefit of the midwives experience for longer and it was several of them that suggested the cooled boiled water to counteract the lumps.

I have to say that when the boys were on the nutriprem made on boiled water they used to throw up something terrible (very lumpy too) and when we made the bottles on cooled boiled water it didn't happen at all! Since they have now moved to Aptamel Comfort they have also never been sick.

few less lumps lately, we are still using boiled fresh water add powder and then cool it down, shaking the bottle up and down and side to side in between, There are a few specks that are still getting caught in the teat, they don't throw up much of their feed regularly so we are blessed in that way, its just frustrating for them and us when we are feeding them and some of the specks of powder get stuck in the teat hole, have been told they must stay on stuff for 3 mths... 2 mths to go..........

Just a suggestion as I have no experience of nutriprem - could you make it up in a jug perhaps and use a whisk or something to really mix in the powder then pour it in to the bottles?

Our small fella was on Nutriprem 1 and then 2 for quite a while. What worked for us was to boil the fresh water, leave it for about 10 minutes (no longer than that or it would be too cool), fill the bottles with the water, then add the formula. Give the bottles a good shake for a couple of minutes.

Luckily we never had problems with lumps in it. We also pre-made the bottles for the following day and stored them in the fridge (once they had cooled down a small bit after making them). We then just put them in a cup/bowl of hot water to heat them up then. I know the carton says not to pre-make them but we got that advice from several of the mid-wives in the hospital. They have to be used within 24 hours of being made.

This was a couple of years ago so maybe they have changed the formula slightly which makes it more prone to lumps.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck with it!
