Hi folks...i posted here a couple of months ago about telling my mother via letter...well i sent her a letter early december and thankfully, she is glad I told her about my sexuality etc via letter rather than in person...she is very mixed up, upset, in a tizzy about it all...denial i would say...she told my sister recently that she feels she has no one to talk it out with, someone who went through the same thing...ie another parent...is there a group or someone i can point her in the direction of?? alas she does not live near dublin but lives near the north....btw, even tho there is a very long road ahead, i am sooo glad i told her as now i can be totally honest with myself. thanks again for all the support!

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I would suggest you phone the gay switchboard 018721055 ,
There is a parent support group ,,its basically parents of gay kids/adults who are there for other parents who may find things "difficult " or just need to talk to another parent,,,I know they have meets BUT they have a fone service ,,
Plus the gayswitchboard can send out to you or your mum literature that will answer many questions she may have,
Phone them up ,,,explain your situation ask them for a parent in your county and ask them for the leaflet ..
hope that helps and best of luck to you (and your mum )
Congrats by the way on coming out
