    Hey all,

    Was looking at this;

    http://www.adverts.ie/lenses/canon-ef-70-200-f2-8-is/1244619

    And I'm mildly interested in it. I was wondering if anyone here would be able to tell me if the dust is a serious issue or not (as it's not something I've encountered before).

    Also, would anyone know how much it'd costs to have the lens serviced and cleaned by an authorised Canon repair place (does that just leave ISS?).

    Just thought I'd ask before pestering the seller (if I do decide to go for it, still unsure).

    Cheers.

    According to advertiser Berminghams have estimated cost approx 100 euro. My concern would be how did dust get in as these lens are fairly well sealed.
    I wouldn't buy this lens unless I was getting it at a reduced price that would allow me to have it serviced and fully cleaned. No point in buying trouble. Just my opinion

    Yeah, I seen he said that, alright, but I try not to trust people too much when they're selling stuff (especially when their reason for sale is due to leaving the country).

    As far as I know, dust is part and parcel of having any zoom lens, but it just seems like there's an awful lot in there. Just on a bit of a budget and though I'd like a 2.8 IS, unless I go second hand I can't afford one (though the f/4 IS new is within reach).

    Whatever about having two batteries or two memory cards - how does one end up with two 70-200 f2.8's? Very odd......

    I think PCPhoto said before he had three of them!

    I've no idea how anyone ends up with that much gear. :P

    TBH I wouldnt pay the price he is asking. I got mine on adverts for the same price and in mint condition.
    If your really interested just give ISS a call and get a quick quote and then take that and a little bit more away from his price.
    Why should you pay the going rate for a faulty lens and then have the trouble of trying to get it fixed
