Hi all I know this has been done before but I thought I may get an update. I am hope to do an acca course this year but I'm finding it hard to decide on a particular college.

I would be starting from the beginning F1 2 and 3 can anyone recommend a college? I've heard DBS and BPP are good but this may not be true. Any help wud be appreciated as I need to register soon

    Thanks

Any of the ACCA Platinum colleges should be good especially on the first 3 papers. I went to Independent Colleges and found them very good

dbs is a good college, done all my exams there so far (up to P stages) but I think I will be trying Independent for next year, heard so many good things about them.

Hi OP, don't forgot you can also study from home. I did this from F4 to p3 and if you have good self discipline you should be ok. My main reason for doing this was because of my financial situation Being a trainee etc...but its worth a look

i seem to be on my own on this one, but the recorded lectures with GCD are brilliant, you can pause the lecturer when you need to get your head around something etc..found i learned more from these than the actual lecture! i've done f1 and f2 but gonna do the next few exams via distance learning and just watching the lectures on the net

If I self study where do I get the books and how do I do the exams? Are there 3 exams online?

For self study you can purchase the Kaplan books from Hodges Fidges in Dublin or directly from BPP or buy them online. F1 through F3 are available as Computer Based Exams CBE, they are not online but available to take at regular intervals at many of the accounting schools.

I would go with DS over Independent for the simple reason of comfort. The classes in Independent are run down looking and I had a sore back after them as the chairs don't fir under the tables properly. Lectures in both are good enough though

I nearly got caught out missing ACCA registration when I started.

I can't post the link as the ACCA website seems to be acting up but AFAIR they recently brought in a new system called "8 is the date" as in the 8th of March and 8th of September. The old sytem was mental in that you had to be registered with the ACCA weeks before classes started. Please check the specifics when the website is back to normal.

Once you have your ACCA registration sorted then you can pick your college. Most offer online registration and you can collect your books on the first night of classes. For me, the choice is not about the college but the lecturer. I did 1 in one college and 1 in another for my first pair, then 2 in the same college and probably going to do 1 and 1 again this time.
