Can anyone recommend a good (cheap) travel agent for Caribbean holidays?Mexico/Dominican republic
    I have tried:
    travelmood (Part of TUI)
    Trailfinders (Way overpriced)
    Thomas cook

Am I missing any that would be reasonable?

First Choice. Went to dominican republic last year, 5 star all inclusive on a private island for about 1600 for 2 weeks. Best holiday ever.

We went to Dom Rep in Sept 2010. 2 weeks in Dreams Punta Cana for 1400 each with Twohigs.

Thomson.co.uk will match the online price if you call them.
Cheapest price you'll get if you can source a cheap flight to England.
Depending on The island you may also need to spend the night before in an airport hotel if it's an early morning flight.

charterflights.co.uk is a nice search engine for seeing whats on offer. the deals are in flights only and to get a cheap flight you will need to leave from the UK. You can also search flights to the Caribbean in general which is handy.

I would use this site to identify where the offers are and then go direct to the airlines website as it's usually cheaper direct. Then book the resort direct yourself and you should save about 20% on the accommodation alone.

Best deals on charter flights are always about 3 - 6 weeks in advance. "Book early for the best deals" is nonsense that the travel agents trot out. That said, travelling in July or August means very few offers no matter when you book it.
