I have noticed something weird and stupid about this phone.
Last night, it was on about 80% battery. I SHUT IT DOWN, as in POWERED IT COMPLETELY OFF, and this morning when I turned it back on it was on 12%.
Anyone else getting this? And how in the name of **** is that happening?

Not really. I understand what that's saying, but it was powered off.

The reading your phone thinks is completely empty is really somewhere around 12%, its nowhere accurate

I cant seem to see the part in that link where it says that it can under/over-estimate the battery level by 70%. If that can happen then, what's the point in having a battery level indicator.

Because the battery guage isn't telling the truth, it's a well known issue with smartphones (not just android) and modern batteries

That article is only highlighting minor differences actual charge level and the charge level shown and goes a long way to explaining why your battery can drop ~10% of it's apparent battery level in the space of a few minutes while using it. The OP hadn't even had it powered on and the level dropped some 70%.

Was it completly shut down ?
My tablet sometimes doesn't shut down properly and the battery runs out when I go to turn it back on again. I have to hard power it down.
Can you try again but this time pull the battery overnight see if the same happens again.
Big difference between 80 and 12! Stats not reporting right maybe but is it not too big of a difference to be that ?

I think that could be the culprit.
