"Do not leave valuables on display in the car". What else did they expect to happen?

I know a twit that bemoaned the fact that her laptop was robbed from the back seat of her car when it was parked at Stephen's green (the car, not the laptop):D

The guy probably has hundreds of previous convictions which IMO says more about Ireland.

They even accused him of robbing the emergency hammer , how can they prove that?

Is the un-named person going to step forward and admit that the hammer he used to commit the damage was his own and seek compensation for defamation?

£5 on Amazon... but he would probably need to rob a laptop first in order to get on the Internet, and then use a stolen credit card to buy.... guess thats called a vicious circle.

The tint film on the window appears to have held together the glass slightly, less of a mess.

    Not just Dublin.....
Happened me last year at the Cliffs of Moher. They got nothing from my car though as I hid everything. They were trying to steal the radio it looked like

The Arabs have it right, if you are caught stealing your hand is chopped off. Sounds like a system that would work here.

Leaving stuff in your car and expecting it to be there when you get back isn't too much to ask really.
It almost sounds like you think the theft was justified... Sorry we're not all used to the scumbaggery that has obviously become common place and somehow acceptable in the big smoke.

Couple that with American style "set-ups" and we wouldn't be long seeing the rate decline or else a lot more one handed scumbags.

Leaving something on display and unattended is an invitation for unwanted attention no matter where you are, it's downright foolish in this day and age.
In a perfect world of course it would be safe and there on your return, but you'd be living in a dream land to expect that in any location.

Luckily my dream land appears to exist :)

Obviously leaving something of value in plain view isn't a good idea, it was really the attitude of the posts.
I think calling someone a twit because they made a mistake/aren't wise to Dublin's ways is a bit harsh.

    In your opinion of course.

They are well within there rights to make the assumption in this case imo.

is anything likely to happen to this scummer now that theres photographic evidence of him being a scummer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 827 ✭✭✭VinnyTGM

I doubt anything will happen to him even though there is photographic evidence of him stealing. The Gardai are too busy checking car tax.

Adidas tracksuit. The number one choice of pure scum!

Amazing that no one stopped him, wouldn't be too hard to pin him down for a while till the Garda showed up. Telling you, all it takes is one person to go over and others will follow.

I also agree, there should be more set ups too drive down this sort of thing. Can't be that hard, two Garda waiting on while they have placed something in the car, wait for it too be robbed.

But wait then again, it's the legal system in Ireland that is letting everyone down. Blame the Garda all you want, even if they where arrested, slap on the wrist from the judge. Flaming joke, no wonder no one gives a rats arse if they are going to get away with it even when caught.
