Which skis?

I'd like to know what you guys think about which type of skis to rent in resort.

My dilemma each year is whether I should opt for the top of the range ski or the next one down.

I'm by no means a 'top of the range'/expert skier but at the same time I ride blacks comfortably for the most part but generally prefer to stick to groomed reds and blues.

How much of a difference does it make do you think to go for a better ski? Or is it a case that you should wear the ski that matches the ability?

micko123; Ski's should match ability, it really is a sad fact that some skiers actually slow there development with the wrong equipment.

High end skis are much stiffer with better torsional flex and can be difficult to manage with poor technique.

Probably for yourself from the discription above something LIke a Salomon Endure 800 or a atomic Nomad, Nordica Fire arrow. would be pretty good choice. You would be looking at a good intermediate ski or a silver standard depending on what resort you are in.

It is funny to see people snow plough with high end race skis

It is one of the things I do when teaching is to make sure I run through ski rental with first time clients.
