Weed grows from the ground from soil that god gave us, it is not a dangerous drug :p I agree it fuels money in the pockets of gangs and criminals but if it was legalised and regulated properley this would not happen. If the whole world legalised cannabis there would be no more reccesion as it would be the most profitable and mass produced crop on the planet. If ya ask me alcohol is alot more dangerous than marijuana :D

Contraband cigarettes and counterfeit dvd's are quite big business. Why would hash be different?

This post is about cannabis not about dvds or cigarettes, but thanks for your comment.

Do you not think alcohol availability should be regulated properly before introducing another legalised intoxicant onto the streets?

You said that if it was legalised and regulated it wouldn't put money in criminals pockets. Have you any evidence for this? Given the fact that a tax would probably make it more expensive than it is now why would people buy it legitimately. I've given you two examples of items that are legal but are massive black market commodities. Why would cannabis be so different?

OP your argument sounds like you're stoned. If thc became the worlds biggest legal cash crop then the recession would be worse as everyone would be too stoned to work or care about work. I totally agree that it should be legalised but not to deal with economic failure.

Yes i do i think alcohol should be prohibited as appose to cannabis. Through my own experience of seeing the effects of alcohol and cannabis, alcohol is common to cause violence and public order offences. I have never been in the company of cannabis smokers where a fight would break out as it would with alcohol. In the whole world there has never been an overdose or cannabis related death apart from driving under the influence which i do not agree with.

It was just a point, not the idea of my post. Well not everyone would smoke would they, not everyone drinks do they?? Like alcohol, if it was legalise, work places would have rules, like it wouldnt be acceptable to show up drunk.?? And why does my argument sound like im stoned? Im just not into all the intelligent ways of speaking over a website. Basic is easier to understand without readers haveing to get out a dictionary because of big headed people.

Its alot easier to get up for work in the morning after been smoking weed the night before as to having a hangover.

So does oleander and deadly nightshade, both are extremely poisonous. All this "it grows naturally so it's safe" stuff is crap. I've dealt with potheads and I've seen it ruin very bright and ambitious friends of mine, I try not to generalise too much but most of the time they are addicted (yes you CAN get addicted to marijuana) layabouts who do nothing but smoke all day and talk crap. If you want to smoke it go to the Netherlands.

I've smoked weed thousands of times, over 20-odd years. It's harmless apart from chronic gum disease, very early rheumatoid arthritous and a severe case of of Dupuytren's disease. I'm living testement to why they'll never legalise weed. Shame really, I did enjoy it despite the consequences. ;)

Ya but being a drunkard is acceptable in Ireland.Smoking a joint is completely illegal:eek::eek:.Crazy stuff. But true.People are happy to accept young lads getting the s#it kicked out of them by a beered-up gang.(as happened to my brother last week-4nacks took his phone & wallet),but smoking a relaxing joint makes you an outlaw. What a fcuked up country.By the way I only have a spliff about once a year. But I cant understand the stigma.Cannabis is a lot safer than alcohol.Over and out.;)

Sure nettles grow from the ground too but they'd sting the hand off ya.

But yeah, weed should be legalised. The only real damaging aspect of it is its illegality which messes up lives by criminalising people over something completely harmless and victimless.

Have you ever seen anything properly regulated in Ireland?

Of all the people I know who smoke weed on a regular basis, they are as thick as ****e. It ruined many of their prospects, 3 of them dropped out of college and 1 of them was actually aiming for the 500 points mark around middle of 5th year before he became a regular smoker.

I am not saying that it has this effect on everyone, but from my own personal experience it should remain illegal.

I believe everyone should be allowed to do as they please so long as it doesn't interfere with any of the rights that everyone else has...

Explain to me why this belongs in legal discussion. FYI: saying that it is about "the law" is not sufficient.
