Another Cycle Lane Story !

    I hate to rant but I will anyway !

    Had to go to Dunnes Knocknacarra for a few bits and bobbs.. Nice eve dry calm and fresh.. Pull on the cycling jacket, gloves, shoes and helmet. Bag on and across the Puggy - Lights on and away..!

    Lucky for us Knocknacarra is all cycle lane the whole way so I am in the cycle lane tipping along. A VW Golf passes me on the road and then pulls in to the cycle lane to let a passenger off... I anchor up and go up the passenger side of the Golf (still clipped in) . I stop and put my hand on the side of the car. The passenger just steps out and I say "Hows it Going ? Could you please close the door Thanks" The passenger closes the door and I amble on past... Had a good giggle at that ...

    Why didnt they wait till I passed.....? If you wernt thinking them dozy gits would have cleaned me with the door... Is it any wonder the poor car driver gets sush a bad rep on this forum:rolleyes:

    The cycle lanes on the Western Distributor Road have FA meaning in life, IMO. Bog-standard Galway City crap.

    The busiest bottle bank in the country outside Dublin, apparently! :)

    Which partly explains the perpetual broken glass in the "cycle lanes".

    I think most of us would have taken a glance back and went around the offending vehicle. It's a fact of life that the majority of the general public switch their brain to energy saving mode when behind the wheel. I wouldn't get worked up over it.
