Where can I get a proper dip-stick for my CH oil tank? Have tried Woodies, Homebase, Halfords - no joy. Is it from the oil merchants?

I use a stick at the mo but a guessing game! does anyone know what length the dip-stick -where you need to re-fill- is to give me an idea in the meantime?

    Tnx

the companies that sell the home heating oil usually give them out if you ask...

Have a look at your tank and maesure up from the base to the outlet of the tank to the oil line feeding your boiler. Say its 12". So 12" from the bottom of your stick is when you go empty. I would imagine getting a refill about 6" higher than that should see you right

I just checked the dipstick I got...there is a marker on it with "Time To Refill" stamped on it, 12" from the bottom of the stick.

I presume these sticks are standard for most tanks, so maybe use that as a guide on your wooden stick

My usage during winter months is about 6" every 2 weeks
