Is a person who is studying part time entitled to job seekers allowance.Im in the process of applying for jobseekers benefit after being made redundant after working for 4 years and im also completing a postgraduate diploma at the weekends.

Does anyone have any experience in relation to this, i looked on the website for info but there is no mention about part time students. I have a meeting next wednesday

Be available for and genuinely seeking work, will your studies interfere with this.
    The dept inspector will decide.

You need to be very careful with this. It will depend on the pattern of your studies and how this impacts on your jobseeking. You are expected to be looking for full-time work. If it looks like you are only prepared to accept part-time work to fit round your studies, you will be refused a payment. You are expected to take any reasonable offer of full-time employment, even if this means giving up your course.
