Mac mini HD on the way out?

I've a mac mini that's about 4 years old which I currently use as a htpc. Anyway it's been slowing down recently and has the occasional hangup that requires me to force quit an app. I've done a disk repair using the snow leopard install disk but I'm thinking the hard drive is going to go soon.

Can anybody recommend a place in Galway that would replace the hard drive and also upgrade the ram while they are at it.

You can do it yourself with 2 putty knives and a Philips #00 screwdriver. The instructions are on ifixit.com. Buy memory from crucial and a laptop hard drive from memoryc.ie. It's way easier than you would think. Take care with the Bluetooth and the wifi chip/antenna.

If there is no audible clicking I doubt it's on it's way out. It's worth doing a clean install of the OS before replacing the HD.

What are you using to play video? I recently noticed that Boxee was running in the background of my Mini (I use Plex now). I deleted it and restarted and the Mac is much more responsive. Run activity monitor and see if you can identify a resource hog on your system.
