Heavy Metal Blood Testing

Not sure if this will breach the charter (asking the specific questions I want to about an ongoing neurological investigation I'm having without a diagnosis yet probably will so I wont...) but I just wanted to ask a general question about anyone who has had blood tests for heavy metal poisoning. Is it unusual to ask for this and/or difficult to get from your GP? Do run of the mill blood tests usually show up as normal even if the latter is present? Anyone know of clinics in Dublin or Cork that do them at a fast turn-around time/specialise (PM me please, don't recommend them here).

    Thank you.

What heavy metals do you think you have been ingesting? What symptoms are you having?

Have a look at dlnofneps thread on "undiagnosed circle of hell" - He had metal tests done and posted his results, I can't remember if he said where he got it done, but if it doesn't say you could pm him, he comes on regularly enough.

I thought I could not post symptoms here though? I have a fairly extensive run-down of everything, If I can post here great, maybe I should pm a mod and ask, charter seems explicit on it though>?

Ok is it work related exposure you are concerned about or did you ingest something and if so what? It's hard to advise you without some small detail.

we can't offer you advice on your specific symptoms or what the diagnosis is likely to be.

ironmaiden, I'm not sure where you're going with that line of questioning- remember that on this forum we don't permit medical advice or speculation on potential diagnoses.

Ok sorry guys. Any hospital would do the tests if they felt they were indicated, eg industrial exposure etc. They also do hair analysis in some places. The most likely metal to cause problems is zinc or selenium if you are ingesting supplements. That's the one I know more about. Ok good luck
