They are not very popular, the model 700 always was.
    What is your budget?
Remington make Rifles priced at Entry and advanced levels.
Are you a blued steel & timber stock lover, or Synthetic and Stainless?

Howa .243 in the forsale section for €650.
I know not .308, but worth a look at that price.
Howa and Remington can be rebarrelled very easily.

    Angland27,
Unless you are being offered an incredible deal, I would walk away from the 770.

It's a pity that Remington allowed the 710/770 to share the same seven hundred name - and that's about all they share with the 700.

The 770 is a low end firearm, but it may be fine. I just wouldn't have anything to do with it. I would save a bit more, or get a cheaper gun like a Savage.

Here in the States the 770 got a bad reputation and they are cheap. I guess if you were handy and got the gun cheap, you could work it to be a good shooter.

You'll probably have to work the wood, polish the bolt, and tweak the trigger, for a start. She should shoot decent groups.

With all of this said, I do not own a 770, but do own several 700's. When I was buying my first 700, I almost bought a 710, thinking that it was the newer, better 700. Fortunately, my cousin was there to stop me.

How does the fit and finish of the firearm look? Does she cycle well? Is the trigger creepy?
