I think its a great shame myself. I can't help but think "what could have been" had he win the final in 08. I always thought that once he got that monkey off his back he'd be the one to beat

I'm disappointed, but only he knows how he's feeling, so i wish him the best. I liked his commentary as well this year, so at least he won't be disappearing for good

Mardle is a qualified accountant so having a good career to fall back on probably made his decision a little easier.

A cushy number at Sky and and is in demand for exhibitions I guess.
Took the easy option it seems but the standard is higher now and probably doesnt think he can cut it with the best anymore ?

I like his commentary apart from the "mr T" too often

His exhibitions won't be in demand for much longer though. I'm quite disappointed by the news. It's very sad for a player who so nearly had the world at his feet .

It is a great shame that the game is losing a great character and player. Its a pity we wont at least see his antics in the UK Open this year but aw well.... You cant keep playing if your not enjoying it.

By the way his exact quote was:

    From his twitter:

"I have decided not to do the Pdc tour this year, I just feel I wouldn't be as ravenous for success as the rest. You have to want to compete every week, and at this moment I don't want to. I will concentrate on exhibitions as I enjoy them along with the corporate side of things. I will still be in the commentary box, but right now the tournament side is not for me."
