Advice on charging a car battery at home

Do I need to loosen or remove the six caps on a battery if I'm going to leave it charging overnight ?
I was told that this is necessary to stop the battery becoming pressurized and "acting like a bomb" .

At the moment I'm a bit paranoid about this, so I'd be glad of any advice.
I'm planning to do this in a garden shed so ventilation should not be a problem.

    Many Thanks

As far as I know, modern batteries are self serviced- you don't need to add any purified water or unscrew the caps - just connect a charger to a battery.

yeah, all you need to do is connect the charger. + to + and - to - obviously.:)
