40K in the red, others chasing me for about another 15K altogether. We are a young family and these massive arrears began during the 'goodtimes', -they may have been good for some, but although my income was good then, my sub-prime mortgage lender absolutely crippled us. believe me, once you begin to slip with these guys, you have a long fall ahead- we are still falling! We
still owe well above 300k on a house worth about 180k at a push and really can't handle the uncertanty about whats around the corner. Have recently looked into relocating to Canada, loads of oppertunities there in my field but just don't know wat to do with this bloody house. Job offer is immenent so all and any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Contact New Beginnings (www.newbeginning.ie) for some assistance. Alternatively, MABS could help with managing your finances or contact the Legal Aid Board for some assistance. Can't give legal advice here.

minds made up, Canada is where we are headed its just a question of should i talk to my lender or a solicitor or just go.. don't think i could ever relax if i done the latter but on the other hand, i think having to leave your family, your country and everything you know and love in order to try and undo a financial mess which was pushed upon us, is the biggest payment anyone can make. So with this in mind, i really struggle to want to have anything to do with the banking world of Ireland... makes me sick.

How was it pushed upon you?

I don't see how this situation was pushed on you. You can't claim to be a victim here.

You should not just go. As has been said many times inthis forum, burying your head in the sand in matters such as this, will only hurt you in the long run.

If proceedings have been taken against you by your lender, you would need to see a solicitor and if not, you would need to talk to a financial advisor in order to come up with proposals to restructure payments.
