Accident Advice

A friend of mine had an accident while she was cycling this week. She was cycling in town and this taxi driver didn't pull in to let his fare out, he just stopped the taxi on the road (without any indicating) while on his left (in the cycle lane) my friend was cycling up. Anyway, his customer flung the door open and knocked my friend off her bike. Double fracture as a result.

Who is to blame in this situation?
A guard was called and notified (I've to check if the report was filed) and he told her at the time to get a solicitor. She's really bruised and was given a lot of painkillers and she doesn't quite know where to go from here.

    Any advice is appreciated. :)

There was a recent thread on a similar matter. I believe the consensus was that the taxi driver has a responsibility to check/ensure it is safe and clear for their passengers to exit. Can't find it now that I'm looking for it though.

    Hope she is doing OK.
