Bargain bottles??

I've been meaning to post this for ages. I could really do with refreshing my mish mash collection of aging bottles. It's like an odd socks drawer at this stage where no top matches any bottle really, they're all slightly frickin different. And there's nothing worse than a poor quality bottle that bends and contorts and spills when you try and secure the top having filled it up. But I consistently baulk at shop shelf bottle prices, feckin 6 -8 euro a pop. Is there anywhere sells tried and tested high quality bottles (preferably the larger ones I like to hydrate to the max, me) on special offer?

camelbak podium bottles are excellent. no spill. have loads of different bottles but really only use 2 of these

I use a few of these ones, having picked them up in France last year. They have a wide stopped which is easy to open in the move with your teeth, though they are only 600ml - they wash fine in a dishwasher etc.

Yep .... I got 4 grand bottles using this route for the MTB!

Having said that I have a couple of Camelbak Podium bottles for the road bike - they're not cheap but they are better than the basic ones!

I have about 8 bottles (having given some away) and have never bought a bottle. They are old but fine. Most of them I have picked up at sportives, some (branded by energy gel etc companies) I get for nothing when I purchase something. If you spend any reasonable amount in LBS, ask them to throw in a bottle or two, they get plenty free from suppliers of various cycling stuff. NEVER BUY A BOTTLE!

I use the camelbak bottles, mainly on the basis that they are BPA (bispenol) free. I gave up using older bottles or freebies due to toxin concerns in the plastics being used over the long term. I am aware of the, "used them for years, never did me any harm", it's the same argument as the 90yr old smoking sixty a day.it's such a small outlay, don't forget the milton though.

Thanks, Kite Runner. So that's why I'm the only one with old bottles. Somehow I wish you hadn't told me about bispenol, must google it. Old bottles out and I'll get some Camelbaks.

You can also buy water in a shop, ballygowan, etc, in 750ml size. Fits the bottle cage perfectly.
