Cheap Lights from China

Since my second headlight of the winter came to an untimely end (they don't like tiled floors) I've been poking around looking for deals on a new front light, and came across this website www.shenzhen-wholesale.com

The prices are pretty good, but it looks like you have to actually place an order to get a shipping price from them.

Anyone have any experience with this site, or other cheap headlights from eBay or dealextreme

    Wouldn't inspire me with confidence.

I've got lights from dealextreme before. Took a while, like weeks, but they always arrive eventually.

I've found them good value too (and slow on one delivery but quick on another). They also ship some things from the UK now.

Go for the Dealextreme UK Warehouse, couple of lights there at the moment.

    Bargain at €41

bought two lights from deal extreme over the last few years. delivery took and age (7 weeks) switch failed a two years on the first. 2nd hasn't been used much.

Went with these in the end.

    Got them for €60 delivered.

They are probably not the real deal, as a quick browse on the Trustfire website didn't show up anything remotely similar, but what's the worst that can happen!!!

EDIT: Just found this review. Looks like it might turn out to be a worthwhile purchase:)

Light finally arrived, purchased on the 14th of Jan, that's a mere 6 weeks for delivery  That's a personal record for slow delivery from China. I have been in contact with the seller and eventually they agreed that it had probably gotten lost enroute and shipped a second, which I will obviously return. But then the shipping to China is so slow and unreliable........

Anyway the light itself seems to be well made, I would say on a par with more expensive offerings like this, which a friend picked up for half price a few weeks ago. Looking forward to crossing beams with it for a comparison test.

Inital tests (in my store room) are very impressive.

    The light has three settings:
Main light on, side lights on, and all three lights on.
What is not mentioned in any of the blurb is that you can dim the light (alot) in any of the modes by holding down the button. Very happy about this feature,as most of my riding is done in lit up areas and I will only need full power for short stretches.

Will have to wait and see about the quality of the battery, but the light unit itself seems to be of excellent quality.

Defo worth the €60, not sure about the 6 week wait though.

Cable to the battery is quite long , it would probably reach the seatpost or possibly even under the saddle.
I've wrapped it a few times under the stem.

Your light is on the wrong side, it's supposed to be to the right of the stem. Sorry. Seems like you got an awesome bargain.

Thanks Captain, I was aware, but putting it on the right prevents easy removal of the Garmin for those essential Strava uploads and the inevitable disappointment that ensues :-)

I'll be changing my bar tape at the weekend and will leave a bit more of the bar exposed, which will allow for it to be placed further away from the stem.

    I got this one

I'm very happy with in so far as the light output is great.
The connectors on the two cables between the light unit and the battery unit were a little faulty, so I took them off and put on new one.
    Very good value for money.
