I'm going to be completely dispassionate about this.

But Munster fans, especially those who don't actually live in Dublin, may like or need to know that Searson's pub in Baggot St (the one that used to drape a massive Munster flag from its upstairs window during Munster Leinster games) has closed down.

I only discovered this lately but on the Dublin local forum the news was posted before Christmas.

Article on why it was closed here for anyone who's interested -

There's a big Munster flag and a jersey up behind the bar in Smyth's in Ranelagh for any Munster fans looking to move elsewhere. Couldn't help wondering how many pubs in Limerick have Leinster flags up inside them when I saw it! :D

A big pity. Searsons was a great spot. I liked their lunch menus too.

I'd say there's 10 for every person from Dublin who feels the need to move to Limerick...

Mulligans in Sandymount village is pretty D4 and a good Munster pub. Owners are Munster men, and I'd believe it, because its a proper local and would probably be better off being a Leinster pub.

I live in Sandymount and drink in Mulligans regularly. The owners are from Tipp, but the Leinster flag flys outside all year round. The Munster flag hangs along side it during Heineken Cup time, but when they went out in the groups last season the place was completely draped in Blue and blue only.

I don't know why people are surprised by Munster flags in Dublin pubs though. Half of the population of Dublin are not from Dublin, or even Leinster, and even if they are from Leinster, a large portion of their customers wont be, and I can assure you every pub in Limerick would hang Leinster flags if it was a sizeable portion of their custom.

Everyone knows the best pubs in Dublin are owned by Munster men, how do you think Chawke made his millions?

I used to hangout in the part of town during matches a lot in 2006-2009, I had some friends who lived there and they had skysports and I didn't. I found Mulligans was always fairly decked out in red, but more importantly, always found it usually had munster supporters in it.

Seems I am wrong though, probably a good thing you corrected it.
