back in the day they used to say the british censors cut the violence and the irish censors cut the sex...

    probably true.

but now in the days of everything upfront and online (and IFCO following what their OTHER half does) what point does IFCO have?

    except another government quango?

why not just let the BBFC rate everything? i know...independant country...

    i think not.

    MONEY...MAKING...MAKER...

anyhow... the bottom line is there's no reason in the world for IFCO to exist...if you want IT you'll get it ONLINE...if you want the offiical CUT release you'll get it up NORTH...

Really? This sounds like a troll attempt. "Why not just let the BBFC rate everything?"
Sure why do we bother making movies at all, we should just all watch the UK ones if we want a change from the US

We need our own classification board. It's ridiculous to suggest we just use the BBFC ratings. Should Irish citizens be forced to send their complaints about a particular classification to the BBFC?

    grotesque?
    murder set pieces?
    a serbian film?

It's hard to know if the OP's threads ate serious or they're just another remainder that there was once a time when people who were trolls made an effort to be funny,

Why would anyone living in Ireland or any country for that matter want to have a foreign body decide what we can can not watch. It's ridicolous to even suggest as much.

You also dont seem to understand just what it is that both the IFCO and BBFC do. They do not exist to censor but rather to look at material and decide for what group it is appropriate. When they get in a film such as Grotesque or A Serbian Film ir Tangled or any other film they view it and decide on a certificate acceptable for the material. while you may have issues with what they do I and most others agree that it is a necessary and useful service they provide. I don't agree with censorship but I do believe that classifying a film and giving it an acceptable certificaed is something that can only help not hinder cinema.

Tbh, OP, I’ve no idea what you are going on about and I’m not sure anyone else does either. Less of this sort of rubbish in future please.

    Locked.
