Me brother has his laptop connected to his tv via hdmi which he can watch videos threw grand.

So he is looking to get speakers that will attach to his laptop so that he can also have decent audio.

The only outputs i see on the laptop are your standard mic/headout jacks.

The hdmi port is being used with the tv.

Any ideas what he should go for ??

    Are you messing??

Isin't their sound coming from the TV? Buy some kinda set up for the TV and connect up using another HDMI.

He already has a sound system connected to the tv I'm not sure how its connected ill have to check it out later. He only gets sound from that when using the tv stations. I'll have to find out how its wired.

I ain't seen it he just asked me to post this question for him. It's my old tv there could be a sortage of hdmi ports or something I forget how many it had.

Make sure he has the hdmi set as default sound device then the sound sound pass through the tv just fine and save your self the money

right click on speaker icon select playback devices and in that menu you should see the speakers and the hdmi option

Ok hdmi from tv to laptop works perfect with sound but sound is ****e cause its just the tv speakers.

Theres only one port on the laptop for hdmi and one port on the sound system.

If you plug hmdi from laptop to sound system you have no picture on the tv.

If you plug hdmi from laptop to tv then hdmi from tv to soundsystem the sound reminds on the tv nothing on the sound system.

So what kind of set up is needed to have a sound system connected to a laptop that is already using the hdmi port for picture and only has basic mic/headphones jack for audio??

A mate of mine has the same set up as you and his sound system has a HDMI in and out, so the feed gets fed through the speakers then to the projector in his case.

This is the best way but if you do not have an HDMI in on the speaker system this is not possible

From looking at these in the past I believe that most home cinema systems have at digital line in at least maybe you could use that direct from the PC
