Hi, I have a 02 Accord that needs a new battery.
I will be trading it in this year so I dont need a high quality battery.
Prices seem to be around €120 in Halfords.
Can it be got for cheaper in Dublin?

    Thanks in advance.

Most Motor factors are cheaper than Halfords.

120 euro seems about right for a decent quality battery, shop around and see which shop has the best price.

You should be able to pick up a new battery at a motor factors for around €60.

Depending on where you are in Dublin, I got my last battery for €60 here
    Tallaght Motor Factors

Although the Honda Civics are supposed to have smallish batteries anyway.

I don't know where you are and what engine is your Accord but if it's 2 litre engine then you can get a bit cheaper. I got one for my E200 merc a month ago in Atlas Tyres (Sandyford Ind.Est) for €90. In the past used to buy them in Tallaght FastFit or whatever it's called for €80 however this year they qouted €95.
From my experience Halfraufs is the most expensive one.

The smallest I ever managed to get for 2litre cars and upwards was €80. Never seen anything cheaper than that for big batteries.

If you're northside a mate of mine runs www.qcp.ie. They are based im Kinsealey. I know he sells alot of batteries both to the public and trade and I'm sure he will do better than Halfords.

Which type battery did you price @ €120 in Halfords? The battery in your car is most likely an 048 or an 053.

A friend of mine was badly stuck for a battery for his Accord last year on a Sunday so even though I hate the place I we ended up in Halfords as nowhere else was open. It cost either €90 or €95 I can't remember which. If I had one in stock the same model battery would have been €75. So slightly more expensive but not twice the price or anything.

I have bought from Irsh Auto Parts and there usually good value but not particularly in this case, €120 for a 02 Accord 2L, Normally free next day delivery on purchase over €50 or €60

I guess you could buy a battery not specifically for the Accord for cheaper

Out of curiosity, what brand of battery do Halfords stock? Is it their own name on them or do they do the likes of Bosch or Varta? If it's the latter then the €120 might not be too far off the mark. But the prices quoted by the lads above would be right for most brands and would be more than good enough for your car.
