Renting a car in Edinburgh

Looking to get a car in edinburgh in late feb just for a day.

Looked with carhire3000.ie who's prices are great and service is good too.

However they look for a security deposit of £500 sterling on a credit card. It's a bit much for the day. If the card was clear it'd be grand, but its not and I'm not clearing it just for a car for a day. It's not that vital

Just wondering does anyone know of any companies/sites that have reasonable offers for a day in a compact car (e.g. €60 for a golf) with a smaller security deposit (€300 would be about as much asI'd stretch to)

Minor issue is I'm 21... I know there'll be a small young driver fee which is fine

I use www.autoeurope.com they are showing VW golf's for €54 a day, but there will of course be surcharge for under 25. They may take a pre autorisation for fuel up front when you pick up car, also it would be an idea as it is only one day to get the excess insurance should be no more than €15 a day.

cheers, not to worried about the excess insurance etc. just need a low security deposit!

Sorry I thought it was 21.

Try www.carrentals.co.uk they allow 21 year olds extra charge £10 a day rentals about €50-60 does not seem to have deposit.

Just checked them there for example the 27th feb they start at about £30 a day.

brilliant, through that site I got on to netflights.com which offer car hire

£35 for a focus and £6+tax for being 21. They cc details but there is no hold on it which is brilliant. Thanks
