cyanogenmod + galaxy S on 3 network problem

    Hi

Does anybody have cyanogenmod7 or teamhacksamsung ics rom on the galaxy S on the three network working correctly.

When I install these roms my mobile data defaults to Vodafone (i.e. threes 2G roaming partner), I never get 3G or HSDPA speeds.

If I go back to a rom based on galaxy S stock (e.g. darkys rom) everything works as expected.

Is anybody else experiencing this behaviour?

Gonna seem like a silly question but you haven't set it to just use 2g network only have you ?
Can't think offhand where it is, but it might be under wireless and networks > Mobile Networks.

    Thanks Ste-

No I have the use only 2G network option un-ticked.

    Here are my settings:
    Data Enabled:Ticked
    International Data Roaming:Unticked
National Date RoamingTicked (unticking does not give me any speed improvement)
Access Point Names:As setup on Darkys rom
    Use only 2G networks:Unticked
    Network Operators:Automatic Selection

I believe the problem is to do with mobile operators who use MVNO. Three use MVNO because they use Vodafones 2G network when their own service is unavailable.

Ste- are you running a cyanogenmod based rom on the galaxy S?

Go into your phone dialer and type in the following:

    *#*#4636#*#*

Click on Phone Info, scroll down, and try set Preferred Network Type to "WCDMA Only".

If that works then go back in and try setting it to "WCDMA Preferred".

    HTH.

I've tried both, with the same behaviour.

There is a settings for HSDPA only alright, but when I choose that I loose my connection completely.

Setting the phone to HSDPA only does not force the service the ignore vodafone 2G and switch to threes own service.

probably already checked, but do the roms include correct & up-to-date details for 3's data services?

I'm running CM7.1 on Three but using a HTC phone. Never had any issues.

Did you double check your settings for Access Point Names in Network > Mobile Networks ?

Finally you might need to check what radio you're using (I'm not familiar with Samsung radios )

Make sure you verify the checksum of the downloaded radio before you flash it; you don't want to brick your phone :-)

Extremly hard to brick a galaxy s.
IF it won't boot just put it in download mode and fire up odin.
Away you go back to stock rom.

I'm on three, Galaxy S and Teamhacksung's ICS and can confirm all is working fine. Roams to Vodafone when it needs to but 3G working fine when in range. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but at least you know that it does work. I'm on build 13 and didn't change radio.

    Thanks for the confirmation bandit197.

I managed to resolve the problem by flashing back to the samsung stock rom and reflashing Teamhacksungs rom again.

I am also having crappy 3g problems with 3. I used to be able to no problem but then one day it just stopped. I can force 3g back but loose all my signal bars and have to restart my phone. Can someone please help me. I tried flashing, entering codes, apn settings, data checks. EVERYTHING!!!!! My only mistake was i never checked what package i was running before i done these changes to try and fix the 3g. Is there a way to find out what your stock firmware was or anything? All help is welcome. Thanks
