Headphones and the PS3

Hi, how can I connect my headphones to a PS3?

I was thinking of just using the AV out and an RCA to headphone connection but is there some sort of amp device that I can connect to the PS3 with a digital optical cable and then plug my headphones into that?

I've seen this Turtle Beach sound processor around but they appear to be more for gaming. It's got the connections I want - optical in, audio out with a volume control but it's a bit expensive.

Are there any other solutions out there?

I have headphone-out on a pair of cheap speakers, though I have to use my FiiO E5 to control the volume (that's how crap they are! :p)
